Enjoy the journey.. not just the destination..

It's only the beginning of November & my thoughts are turning to the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.. Dreaming about who we're going to spend the day with, what delectable foods we're going to cook, what games we will play.. how we're going to create the holiday "magic":)

From the outside people may chide the event planners in the family.. why spend so much time on one day?  All the fuss and running, buying, dreaming, scheming..

Special times with family or friends all together feed the soul.  It's not about the destination, it's about the journey.  All the days and activities leading up to the "big day".  The "Big Day" is a wisp of time that quickly is lived and then is gone.  But all those days leading up to it.. the planning, the dreaming, the sharing of showers and games and laughter, family and friends.  That's what truly makes up life.  Those are the multitude of days.

We must enjoy the preparation days, because the "destination day" may never come.  The day we live for, the day we retire.. the day our children are raised and we get to then do what we have been putting off.. the day we have "enough money".. the day we get everything done (lol) and then can take that vacation or meet up with that friend or family member.  Don't put it off.  Do those things before you have reached your "perfection" state.  It's all the days leading up to that day that make up life.  And that "destination" day may never come.

It's the joy in the "daily days" that make up life.  God open our eyes to the illusion that fools us that the "daily days" are not what we are living for but rather for that "destination".  Help us to make the "daily days" our focus so you don't miss the majority of life.
