Each Day’s Container
Even in each day, we want more than what we can have! Today, I had coffee with a friend, quiet time in the morning, homemaking tasks & bill paying. But somehow I also thought I could get letters written, exercise, cook, write, do laundry & finish a painting project! I laugh at myself as I list out all these expectations! Crazy as it is to think that all these things will fit, I will be frustrated when it doesn't all happen :) No kidding! Who exactly do I think I am... superwoman? Inhuman?.. More capable & more gifted than any other person alive?
Did you ever think, God created our strength and our day to be finite.. kind of small, really. We are not meant to accomplish more than just a little bit each day. And we are to be happy with that. Are you? I can honestly say, I overestimate my "to do" lists on a regular basis.
Each day is like a container with a defined capacity. Prayerfully, lift your day and your "to do" list to God. Listen to what He directs you to do as the most important things. Cross off, and this is the difficult part, the things that are more than can be done. If crossing off is too painful, just leave them to the second part of the day, also in priority order, "if you have time".
Let go. God didn't create this day insufficient. It's you who is looking at the day and at life as more than it, in God's wisdom, was created to be. When we step back & let our days be "less", we find joy & peace as we flow according to His design.
