The Most Seductive Modern Day Myth

"The most seductive modern-day myth is that we have an unlimited amount of attention."  Richard Clark

The truth is we overestimate ourselves.  How can we do both, "Think Big" while at same time truly evaluating what our abilities and energies are.  The reality is that I am seeing in myself my 'finite' energy each day.  I am realizing I need to choose in my day what are the most important things and do those things in the first 6-8 hours.  The planner that I have been using has the base principle to choose your "top three" endeavors for the day & shoot to get those done jotting down the rest of the periphery of tasks in a list below that that I may or may not get to.

I am frustrated with this understanding.  Why?  Why does it make me angry that I am limited?  Let's be honest.. Because I want "more".  I don't want to run out of energy.  Because I see myself as more important than that limited amount of strength allows.  Because the world and people "need" me (or so I think).  Because that seems so boring.. not like the images of all my "friends" on facebook who seem to have non-stop strength & activities.

Life is not Facebook or Western America culture that never slows down, never gets tired, never has to say no to anything that we want whether it is accomplishment or pleasure.

But, let's go back to that 6 or 8 eight hours of strength.. that "top three" purposes for this day .. What if I do them each day?  Wouldn't those 3 things, and tomorrow's 3 and the day after that be incredible in the end?  I think so.  And if we get to the "end" with humility, peace & love for others, isn't that the greatest "success" of all?
