Grandparents and the Incredible Power of M & M's!

I don't know if most grandparents know what an important role they play in their children and grandchildren's lives but

I heard a story from my friend Cynthia a few weeks ago…that was just incredible!

Cynthia has "Grandma time" with her grandchildren pretty regularly.  They have this routine when they're riding in the car, Cynthia keeps those little wrapped lifesaver mints on the middle console in her car.  The grandchildren love that treat and usually ask for a mint while they're riding along.  A day or 2 before this Grandma visit, Cynthia got the idea to buy 3 packages of M & M's and put them in her purse for the "Grands".

As they rode along, she waited for them to ask their usual… "Grandma, can we have a mint?"  This time they weren't asking so quickly.  Cynthia got creative and put her hand on the mints and rustled around a little bit to get their attention.  She did and they asked, "Oh, Grandma, can we have a mint?"  Grandma said, "Nope, sorry kids you can't have one of those today."

They were shocked, "Why Grandma?"  "Well, I thought maybe you'd like one of these instead :)," and she pulled the packages of M & M's out of her purse.  They squealed in delight.

Then she said, "You know this is how it is sometimes with God.  Sometimes we ask him for things that we want and He says no, because He's got something even better that He's about to give us instead."

Is that powerful, or what!  Thank you Cynthia for being a wonderful Grandma and sharing this amazing story with us!
