Chuck the To Do List!
I have two options for my time today. Plan A… do my to do list with my pretty much normal routine and tasks for a Friday… important things, valuable things that will accomplish much when they are done. If I get to the end of the day with them checked off it will have been a productive, good day...
But today there is also a Plan B. It's an alternate plan to do something that is a "project" that needs to be done that is important in a different way. I need to take my son out to practice driving so we can get him prepped to get his drivers license and I also want to surprise him by stopping to get a war video series that he would love and maybe taking him to coffee.
Sounds like a wonderful plan, doesn't it?! One of those great parent child moments, that you'll be so glad you did 10 years from now. BUT it is SO HARD to choose to chuck my "to-do" list to do!!
Why? Because it will mean I have to forget the thoughts of accomplishing the Plan A "to do" list today and something in me has a hard time not getting those things done. Why would it be hard to choose the richer, more meaningful day? It's crazy, but I think you all know the battle!
So today, I'm telling you so you can help me… Kick me out the door… text me on my phone to say, "What are you still doing at home?" Help me to not just choose the good option, but to choose the best one!
