Will You Join Us in the Wilderness this Lent?

Beginning tomorrow, Ash Wednesday, Lent will extend for the next 40 days (not counting Sundays) leading up to Easter—a sacred season for us to slow down, remember Jesus’ journey to the cross, and reflect on the wonder of our redemption.

It’s so easy to get caught up in the distractions of this life. One week flows into another. One month becomes a new season. And before we know it, we can find ourselves going along our merry Christian way, numb to the precious gift of our Savior and our life abiding with Him.

Lent gives us the powerful opportunity not to let that happen.

This struggle is nothing new. People have wrestled with the same thing since the beginning of time. In response, some chose a radical path -- literally following the words of Isaiah, and the example of Jesus, and John the Baptist — leaving the noise of bustling cities “to prepare a way for the Lord” in the wilderness.

These men and women, known as the Desert Fathers and Mothers, lived around 300 AD. Their longing to preserve and deepen their love for God, amidst the debauchery and distraction of their time, still speaks powerfully to us today.

This Lent, Bryan and I would love to invite you to join us in deepening our relationship with God through the Lectio 365 Lenten series focused on the Desert Fathers and Mothers.

Together, we’ll journey through the wilderness — not to escape the world, but to prepare our hearts more fully for Christ.

You can watch this short video to learn more. And click here to sign up for the Lectio 365 app.

Then reply, “I’m in,” so we can be praying for each other as we journey through this season.

In Christ’s love,
Bryan & Lori
