Vacation . . .
Vacation ....
I think I may be a little bit strange. I think I may have a little bit of a different perspective than many people. Here we are on vacation. We’re soaking up the sun. We’re eating and drinking. There are towns to explore and shops to buy at. There’s alcohol to consume. There’s shows to amuse ourselves with. All these things that “vacation” means to so many people. Deep down in my soul, that’s not why I look forward to “vacation”.
The trinkets to buy, the excursions to thrill ourselves, the alcohol, the shows... none of those call out to me.
I anticipate vacation because I want change in my life. I look forward to time that I can turn off all the normal things that consume my days. I can sit down with the books that have calling to me that I never have time to read. I have the opportunity to visit with people from different places and hear their stories. I have time to spend with my family and stop long enough to really “see” them again. My greatest hope for my vacation is that I will come home different. I will come home re-adjusted, my life just a little more on track.
I hope to come home just a little richer with just a little bit more treasure to bring to the world.
